Chapter Five: Charged with Duty

The worst has come; and the fears of the emperor come true. As soon as Baurus finished off the last of the assassins, we both charged to help the emperor. Unfortunately, the blade had already pierced his heart and left him dead. The escape was folly.

Cassius, himself, took it very hard. He was told to protect the emperor, and he had failed. The Imperial had began a bloody punishment to the assassin. As Baurus told him to stop, Cassius continued, turning the mortal into a pulp of blood-fruit. Baurus checked the Emperor and became discouraged.

---

Well, me and Cassius are now heading through the sewers, towards the exit and out of this damned prison.

Cassius and Baurus had engaged in a heated conversation after the death of Uriel Septim VII. He and his heirs were dead. Cassius explained that the amulet he was given was to be used to find the heir to the empire. Odd, considering all his sons were dead.

We... Well Cassius was asked of his profession. I didn't bare to listen. I was completely ignored again.

I, myself, am... well, I call myself a 'Pariah'. I have skill with a bow, and a blade. A little magic here and there. I was also born under the sign of 'The Lord'... I, for one, do not follow the nine divines, or any of the gods. We aren't on the best of terms.

Well, Baurus decided I was far too idiotic to have killed the emperor... which I heavily resent.

Luckily for us, the sewers are filled with nothing but rats, mud crabs, and goblins.

---

For hours we have traveled through the dankness of the sewers. The smell was enough to kill any commoner, and the mudcrabs sifting through the sewer water was enough to make any race, even a goblin would throw up whatever they had been eating.

Chapter Four: Journey

Me and Cassius were able to get past the damned rats and that one zombie... 'cept now, we are in one gigantic cave filled with hungry, and well equipped, goblins. Cassius was not scared at all! In fact, he rose his shield, drew his blade and rushed into the mess. While the goblins charged at him, I killed a rat... TWO!!

But what really had me worried was a shaman with a staff... a staff with a goblin head at the top. He was walking towards a mobbed Cassius, and I was not about to let him die. Not with all these damned goblins around. I charged head-first at the shaman... and tripped on a rock. Luckily, the trip made me throw the sword and, accidentally, impaled the goblin.

Standing up, I looked to help Cassius after pulling the sword from the corpse, but he was waiting for me with a grin. Such a cocky grin; Oh what I would have killed to swipe that grin off his face. And I did! I saved his ass! Just as he saved mine...

*ramble*

---

I have to say, this mine had a lot of interesting items in it; flawed jewels, and that staff! Even though it has a head on it, it can produce lightning! LIGHTNING!!!!

My storage bag keeps getting heavier and heavier, it's filled with enough crap to supply a camp; I even have a bedroll!

So, we are walking on.

---

We came up on an opening... probably more loose bricks. Will update when I get out.

---

Well, we got out of the tunnels, and back into real action. As soon as we jumped out of the hole, the emperor was attacked. Glenroy looked pretty battered up, and Baurus was holding up fine. As we rejoined, Glenroy, already bleeding, drew his blade and proceeded to our position. His intention was obviously to kill us both.

Emperor Uriel VII wove his hand and told him to stop. Glenroy, disappointed, looked at me... with blood lust.

"What about that one?!"

Cassius spoke for me. Never have I been so thankful. Willing to oblige to Cassius, as of the imperial was one of the divines, Emperor Uriel VII nodded. What is going on here?! An emperor submitting to a prisoner?!

As we walked forward, as Uriel VII had beckoned, he explained his following of the divines and asked Cassius of his sign. Almost about to faint, I missed what Cassius had said and the Emperor's follow-up. What about me?! he'd be dead without me, damn it!

Continuing through this strange place, we ran into a road block; gates locked from the inside. taking a side entrance, Glenroy lead us cautiously inside before realizing it was a dead end.

---

That Glenroy; quite impulsive. Impulsive yet smart... and dumb.

He had realized it was a trap and rushed out to fight the assassins. However, he didn't bother with wondering if there was an assassin in the room.

I took my weapon to help guard the entrance, but looked towards the emperor before taking stance. He was talking frantically, and forcing a necklace with a marvelous red jewel into Cassius's hand. I was able to grasp the words 'find him, and close shut the jaws... of Oblivion...'. Looking to the fight, I saw Glenroy parried from his attack. As he fell forward, his attacker shoved a one of the glowing daggers deep into his ribs. Yet, Glenroy still had the stamina to land a head-slicing maneuver. Baurus had taken care of his lot and Glenroy was about to collapse.

I had not formal training as a healer, but the stab wound was fatal.

To make matters worse, I see a few more assassins coming...

---

After Baurus survived the second wave, Glenroy fell. He was quite the fighter... yet held too much of a passion.

As I was able to push away an assassin, before I heard the sound of a stone pillar moving. When I looked towards the Emperor, I saw an assassin jump to the Emperor! His blade was aimed towards his heart!!

Chapter Three: An Eternity of Darkness

Somehow, I knew something was wrong. From the beginning I knew something was wrong; whether it be the fact that I was going into a place that looked like a catacomb from back in Morrowind, or the fact that there was only three people guarding the emperor. Guardians or not, he's the emperor; he should have a legion of men following him, covering him from all angles. Well, we are heading out this escape route... and it's secret so it must be secret...

---

Man, it feels like we've been walking for hours. My feet hurt, my ears itch terribly, my claws are covered in dust and need a trim, and the others just walk on. Damn you Cassius...

It was only a matter of time before we were attacked. A group of people, dressed in red and black armor, wielding weapons that are vaguely familiar made an attempt to kill the emperor. The three ran ahead to kill the attackers with the female in the lead.

When the battle started, the captain was foul-punched which lead to a swift stab in the middle of her two shoulder blades. She fell quick as the other two brought vengeance. Glenroy had taken a few cuts, but delivered a punch that sent his opponent sprawling backwards. His opponent tripped, and smashed his head on a brick. The sickening crack still makes me wince. The redguard, identified as "Baurus" completely outmatched his opponent in skills with the blade and made a thorough stab through the assassin's heart.

The Emperor, Uriel, asked Baurus, at the end of the battle, of a "Captain Renault". He must have been referring to the female... NAH!

Baurus made a brief sigh, with touches of sadness, and announced of her death. Holding his head high, Baurus made it clear they had to keep moving. Uriel looked even more depressed as we continued on.

Of course, looking at the assassins, I noticed that their armor had completely vanished in a flash of hot, red smoke. All that was left were mortal men and woman with scarlet robes. Removing the robes of one of the dead, I noticed that Cassius had grabbed the sword that Renault wield.

I remembered the designs as an 'Akaviri Katana'. In Morrowind, they had dozens of Akaviri artifacts including bits of armor. Taking the short sword from her body, as well as a few septims, I planned to take the armor, but Cassius shook his head slowly. Feeling honor for the dead, I left the body and followed the Emperor and his two men to a door.

---

One of the guard, Baurus, stopped us from following and explained that they couldn't be followed.

So much for my great escape! I watched death and got a few weapons all for nothing... well, at least I got a new robe!

As I had prepared to leave, I heard the sound of rats and the crumbling of stones. Looking to my right, I saw a piece of the wall collapse, and two huge rats jump out in a vicious hunger. Cassius had already drawn the katana in pure heroic stance... while I prepared to run off. He took care of them without a problem! One swipe and they were both dead.

Without motioning me to follow, Cassius ran off into the little cavern. Again, I considered going back to my cell... but I just couldn't resist. I mean, after all, it could be a dead end, and if so, I could use the Imperial as a scape goat.

Taking the torch from dead Captain Renault, and lighting it with a lantern nearby, I followed the footsteps of Cassius into the cavern... I thought I was going to die.

---

Well, it is dark like dunmer necrophillia, and the torch provides little if no help. I found Cassius, he had found some iron armor and gladly put it on... I found a leather cuiriss and boots. I'm surprized at the dead bodies around here.

Well, I got rid of the bonemeal that had got on the leather, but these damned wrist irons were not helping my situation. Cassius had already removed his wrist irons and was sporting a pair of iron gloves. He also had a shield! a damned shield!

He ran ahead of me, taking the torch and leaving me in the darkness.

I paniced. I couldn't see, barely hear, I thought I was going to die... but then I realized; I'm a khajiit. I can see in the dark!

The eye of night is a specialty that many of my race exhibit, and gives us a better sense of the night... but it is a strange shade of blue. So, I followed Cassius again, through tunnels, rock formations, dead rats, etc.

I swear, the darkness goes on forever.

Chapter Two: The Hell?!

Escaping the evil tangent, something miraculous has occurred! Sleeping beauty has awoken!

You know, the way the moon hits the jail cell window, it would seem like it was still sunny out.

So, gazing at the Imperial, he seems to be fooling around with the chains and bones in the jail cell, admiring the shadows. I really hope I didn't get caught with a moonsugar addict; I was in a skooma den the other day and, the whole time, a group of sugar-heads are drinking skooma like they are dehydrated.

---

Well, I asked the Imperial who he was and, surprisingly, he gave me an answer; he is such a silent fellow, you'd think he would never talk. Turns out his name is "Cassius Varo", and he has no idea why he is in prison... figures, he's a pot-head... Heh, that's a good nickname for someone who smokes Skooma from those pipe-like pots, 'Pot-head'... I gotta remember that.

So, the dunmer starts to tease and taunt the Imperial, mocking him about how he is an imperial and how his brethren betrayed him, and the rat, and etc. I swear, if it wasn't for this cage, I'd kill the bastard and feed him his own insides. Oh great... it's raining.

---

Well, as luck would have it, the weather decided to prove itself with a heavy downpour. There is enough rain to drown a horse!

Oh crap, here come the guard. Back under the table with you...

---

Check this out:

A bunch of well armored guards walked out of the prison hall with an extremely well dressed male, and the guards have locked the door. I hear the old man talking about how his sons are dead and how the guard need to save him. Oddly enough, they walk towards this cell. While I'm at the table, the imperial has gone near the cell door.

The guard looked surprised to see us in the cell; odd. When she demanded reason for us, some Imperial identified as 'Glenroy' stuttered with an excuse about how he 'mixed up with the watch'. Well, we were both pushed to the window as the old man walked in. Another man in unique armor, a redguard by the looks of it, stayed close to the emperor as the old man walked towards Cassius.

To quote him, "You... I've seen you." "Let me see your face..." The old man studied Cassius's face carefully before looking paralyzed. "You are the one from my dreams!" Classic... "Then this is the day... Gods give me strength!"

That old man was really starting to creep me out. Cassius spoke up with one of the worst of questions; "What's going on?" The old man explained that his sons were killed and some assassins were after him; then he said something about an escape route leading through this jail cell. I'm in enough trouble as it is; If I walk out there, I'm a dead man.

What almost made me fall over and die was when Cassius asked him who he was. This old man was Uriel Septim VII... THE GOD-DAMNED EMPEROR. Least to say I was surprised. This guy, the guy who gave me and some dunmer in Vvardenfell a prison pardon was the damned Emperor!

I was going to tackle him and ask him thousands of questions... like why his damned guard has locked me in prison for which I was framed!

But all that came out was, "Gah..."

He took a brief look at me then turned back to Cassius. This guy gave me a pardon and he didn't even care who I was?! I knew there was a mistake in Vvardenfell! They mixed up papers and ended up adding one more prisoner then what they needed.

So, the female pressed a brick and all of the sudden, the bed disappears and is replaced with a secret entrance. Here is a crossroad.

I could:

A: Follow the group into this secret passage, risk going back to prison or maybe even death, and find out what the hell the emperor is talking about...

or

B: Stay in my cozy cell eating delicious bread and drinking dirt-speckled water until I die of boredom.

Well, I've lived through enough already; why not roll the die one more time?

Chapter One: Why Me?

It was a particularly strange day today.

The sun was quite dim, the sky seemed like it was afraid, and people were depressed. It was like that feeling when it was going to rain. The air was warm, the wind was strong, the atmosphere was quite depressing; it was like when Rythe Lythandas created a rainy day... I swear, those paintings move!

Anyway here I am just minding my own buissiness, in the Market District of the Imperial City, eating an apple when a pair of guards run up on me and charge me with thievery of the jewelry nearby. Of course, I grinned and shrugged it off as a common misconception. However, when I emptied out my pockets, jewels, pearls, necklaces, everything poured out like a waterfall! Even in my storage bag, jewels!

Feeling completely aloof, I was carried away... I could have sworn I saw a bosmer, dressed in leather, grin at me.

Now, I could go on and on about how I was brought before the legion guards, scoulded horribly, threatened with jail time that could last for years, or even life-sentances, but that is not why you are reading this journal... which I had stolen from a bookstore in Morrowind; I swear, the dunmer need to follow a customers, especially when there is only one, around to make sure they don't steal.

Anyway, after the pointing of the fingers and yelling, I was stripped of the rags I wore and given, wait for it, more rags! Brilliant! I was given my storage bag, though.

So here I am; writing in my old journal in this dark and cold cell with a sleeping Imperial... how I snuck the journal in... I'll never tell!

---

Well, it is pretty late; around twelve in the morning, anyway, and me and my cell mate were given our first bit of food that is supposed to last us for a day or two... a loaf of bread and half a jug of water. You know, that imperial sleeps like a baby; I clawed and screamed when I was thrown in here...

*the page is many angry words written in lead that are unintelligible.*

So, I ate a piece of the bread and a small cup of water... not in the mood for food... heh, that rhymed! and the whole time sleeping beauty, over there, dreams on as the dunmer from across the cell keeps trying to make me hungry with some rat, and tells me of how I will die. He shut up when I waved the loaf of bread around my head... HA!

So, I knew this day would be strange; the weather, the feel, the people; it was all a sign that I'd be in here! I should have stayed inside the boarding house,

*note I live... lived in a boarding house nearby. Screw living on the waterfront! I'm not going to lose any of my stuff to the cut-purses! Continueing on,

but noooooo I had to buy an apple and chill out with in the market district. Ya know, I feel sorry for the khajiit who work for the Black Horse Courrier; that is what my race has been diminished into: low-pay delivery boys for the local news. At least I pawn what I find laying around.

Welcome!!

Yo!

What's up my readers?!

I'd like to welcome you to a TESIV: Oblivion journal I decided I'd do. Now, I bet your asking: Why?

Well, I've read alot of blogs and how people have given up on them due to reasons concerning college, hospital problems, etc. So, being in my prime, decided to write this little journal to entertain fans of the TES series, including it's new sequel: Oblivion. Being a fan, myself, I decided to make a journal, with some comical additions. Elder Scrolls is a pretty serious game with it's funny moments; so I decided to ante up my own comical ideas into one character, which I loved playing in Oblivion.

This character, with the intention to be the character unmentioned in the main character's story, is meant to be the guy who is there when the champion is, and gets into adventures of his own. He is basicly that background guy who is there by accident. Or in this case, the comic relief.

The whole thing will begin when Ma'Zhirr, a khajiit who just can't keep himself out of danger, is tossed into prison. However, he is not alone. Because of a 'mixup with the watch' Ma'Zhirr is forced to share a cell with a sleeping imperial named Cassius Varo.

I would like to state, that although there will be periods when it takes a while to post a blog due to the book I am making, I will try my hardest to post as much as often. So please help support me with good comments. I will not tell you to donate or pay me; All I ask is that you give good feedback and good critique.

THANKS

Signed,

Jeff 'Ma'Zhirr'
